This helps prevent cavities and disease of the gums and bone that support your teeth.<\/p>\n\n<p>This daily routine is the key to effective oral hygiene.<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interdental cleaning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>This is the most important factor in preventing gum disease, so take the time to clean between each tooth once a day. Remember that every space has two sides to clean, so move your wire up and down, one side then the other.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The outside, inside and chewing surfaces of your teeth can be cleaned with a toothbrush. Always use a soft-bristled brush. You can choose a fluoride toothpaste to strengthen your teeth and help them resist decay. Brush gently for two full minutes, twice a day. Hard rubbing won&#8217;t clean your teeth any better, but it may damage your gums.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Of course, it&#8217;s much easier to avoid cavities if you don&#8217;t eat sugar between meals!<\/p>\n\n<p>Another essential part of your oral hygiene routine is a twice-yearly visit to your dentist. Your dentist will use special tools to gently clean away any hardened plaque deposits or tartar that may have formed between your teeth or gums.
